Brazilian people (by Rodrigo Paiva)
It very much annoys me when this sort of post is tagged so generally. Why is it enough to say ‘#Indian’ and ‘#Indigenous’ but not make any mention of which Indigenous people she is a member of? Let alone her name? Does it not matter as long as you know she’s an #Indigenous #Brazilian?
I am very glad someone asked this, as it seems to be quite the frequent question.
Brazil has 900 thousand natives left, belonging to 305 different ethnicities with 274 different languages.
It is very hard to determine which tribe the person represented in this photograph belongs to, and I can asure you that we do our best to find out.
Sometimes we find out, sometimes we don’t. And when we do, we make sure to specify, as seen here and here.
By no means think that we do not care about the points you raised. It matters to us, and it matters to the people represented in these photos.
I hope you understand that this is not an easy task to do and that we try our best.
